Clint Eastwood: The Man with No Name

Renee Bright
/
KUER

Clint Eastwood has been a constant in American cinema for more than 60 years. But if you think it’s all Westerns and machismo, you’d be wrong.

The film scholar Andrew Nelson says that, indeed, masculinity is a recurring theme throughout Eastwood’s work, but that’s hardly his only preoccupation. Critical acclaim, especially, for late-career films like “Mystic River” attest to his versatility and depth. And one thing’s for certain: you won’t find in Hollywood a more productive or long-tenured actor and director than Eastwood. This Friday at noon, Andrew Nelson joins us to talk about the star of Sergio Leone’s “Dollars Trilogy,” the man who made it famous to ask if you’re feeling lucky, the Oscar-winning director of “Million Dollar Baby,” and about two-dozen other accolades: Clint Eastwood.

GUEST

  • Andrew Nelson | Associate professor and the chair of the Film and Media Arts Department at the University of Utah.
