The ocean is a system in constant motion, and its features — things like temperature and salinity — support life on earth from the micro- to the macro-scale. In a new book, Helen Czerski explains this complex, ongoing dance. She says that we’re used to talking about what’s in the ocean, but that we don’t spend nearly enough time talking about the ocean itself. That’s dangerous — because the ocean is vital to our survival. Helen Czerski joins us Thursday at 9 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m to talk about what she calls the Blue Machine.
