In 2017, a telescope on Maui spotted … something hurtling through our solar system. While much of the scientific community offered various explanations, astrophysicist Avi Loeb’s stood out: This, he asserted, was a piece of alien technology.
In his book, Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth, Loeb sets out to prove his hypothesis — that the object, called ‘Oumuamua after the Hawaiian word for “scout” — was neither an asteroid or cloud of dust, as his opponents have argued, but is instead genuine proof of alien intelligence. We'll talk with Jason Wright about the 'Oumuamua discovery on Friday at 11 a.m., and then with Avi Loeb, who makes his case and explains why other scientists in his field should be wary of dismissing the reality of intelligent life existing beyond our own blue planet.
