Monday, we’re broadcasting live from the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah, where we'll be discussing a wide range of political issues facing Mormons during the "Mormon Moment." Twenty percent of Americans say they wouldn’t support a Mormon presidential candidate, and a new documentary called The Religious Test explores the issues informing their bias. They range from polygamy to the LDS church's support of California's Proposition 8, and its historic refusal to grant blacks certain ecclesiastical privileges.
On Monday, September 17, RadioWest will be recorded before a live audience at the Hinckley Institute of Politics on the University of Utah campus during its regularly scheduled time, from 11 a.m. to noon Mountain. The public is invited to attend. Immediately afterwards there will be a free screening of the documentary filmThe Religious Test.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of the above text mistakenly referred to "the LDS Church's efforts to repeal California's Proposition 8." Proposition 8, passed in November 2008 by California voters, stipulated that "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized" in the state. As "Brian" commented below, the LDS church supported Prop 8.
