What would it look like, and what would it mean, if the United States acted to reconcile its brutal treatment and violent dispossession of Indigenous people?
In a new book, Margaret Jacobs, a self-described “settler historian,” traces the long history of racial injustice towards Indigenous people in this country. She also explores the stories of communities and individuals trying to heal those wounds. She says that in the absence of an official truth and reconciliation commission, ordinary people are working to foreground Indigenous land rights, sovereignty and values. Jacobs joins us this Friday at noon to talk about restitution and reconciliation on America’s stolen lands.
