As part of our monthly film series Through the Lens, we’ll examine Academy Award-winning documentarian Errol Morris’ latest film, American Dharma with Dr. David Resha, associate professor of Film Studies at Oxford College of Emory University.
Academy Award-winning documentarian Errol Morris’ latest film, a portrait of former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, struggled to get distribution following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year. Morris has been understandably resentful, but equally understandable is the reticence around giving a platform, however critical, to Bannon. As part of our monthly film series Through the Lens, we’ll examine Morris' film American Dharma, and explore what place it has in our divided political climate.
- Dr. David Resha, associate professor of Film Studies at Oxford College of Emory University
On Wednesday, Dec. 11, RadioWest and the Utah Film Center are screening Errol Morris' documentary American Dharma at 7 p.m. at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake City as part of our Through the Lens series. For more information, go to KUER.org.
Following the screening, we will host a panel discussion and Q&A with:
- Marcie Young Cancio, Assistant Professor of Journalism & Media at Salt Lake Community College
- Tyler Measom, Utah-based award-winning director and producer
- Patrick Hubley, executive director of Utah Film Center
