It’s the last night of a Las Vegas dive bar. The regulars gather to say goodbye to each other and to the old place. The filmmakers turn on their cameras to see what they get. Right?
Well, sort of. In co-directors Bill Ross IV and Turner Ross’s docudrama Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets, the people are real and the spirit is real. But they aren’t in Vegas and the bar isn’t closing – at least, not “The Roaring 20s,” the name of the fictitious bar in the film. But in this gathering of bartenders and patrons, audiences will find something more human and perhaps even more real than what’s in many documentaries out there. As one bartender asks in the film, “Is this the real thing? Is this really happening?” The Ross brothers invite their audience to answer that question.
