Travels in Ice Age America

Craig Childs

Writer and adventurer Craig Childs’s latest book is a unique kind of travelogue. It’s about his journeys across the country and back in time to the Ice Age to learn what life was like for the first people to arrive in North America.

The writer Craig Childs’s new book is a strange kind of travelogue. It’s about his journeys across the country and back in time to the Ice Age to explore what life was like for North America’s first people. When humans arrived here more than 20,000 years ago, they found the place teeming with massive mammals that they hunted and were hunted by. In many ways, those people were no different from us today. But what they did have is a connection to the natural world we can hardly imagine.

On Thursday, May 17, Craig Childs will be at the King's English Bookstore in Salt Lake City for a reading from his new book Atlas of a Lost World: Travels in Ice Age America. That event is at 7 p.m. MORE DETAILS

Craig Childs's work has appeared in the New York TimesOutside, and Men's Journal, among others. He's the author of many books. His newest is called Atlas of a Lost World [Indie bookstores|Amazon|Audible].
