Wednesday, we’re telling the story of famed gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok. Our guest is author Tom Clavin, who says it was an 1867 Harper’s Magazine article about a gambling dispute and a quick-draw duel that spread Wild Bill’s reputation as a sharp-shooter. But that fame also made him a target for men with their own dreams of glory. Clavin joins us to separate fact from fiction in Wild Bill’s life. The real stories may be better than the made-up ones. Tom Clavin is a journalist and author whose many books include Dodge City and Valley Forge, co-authored with Bob Drury. Clavin's new book is called Wild Bill: The True Story of the American Frontier's First Gunfighter. [Indie bookstores|Amazon|Audible]
