Web Extra: Remembering David McCullough

Credit: William B. McCullough

American historian David McCullough passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022.

McCullough once warned that America’s historical illiteracy is a “disease that is eating away at our national memory.” In 2009, the two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author of “1776" and “John Adams” delivered the commencement address at the University of Utah. He joined Doug to talk about the lessons history has to offer — and what it means to us as a nation if we “lose our story.”

This episode originally aired on April 16, 2009 and has been edited. (rebroadcast)
