The story of Covid-19 is far from over. In fact, it may not have an ending at all. But the tale of how we got here and where we’re headed is coming into focus.

In a new book, the author David Quammen traces the origins of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and its relentless spread through the human population around the world. Quammen says this virus could very well be with us forever, and that outcome is partly of our own making: As we interfere with wild ecosystems, viruses find ways to jump from animal hosts to human ones. Meanwhile, scientists struggle to keep up with ever-evolving variants of the coronavirus. David Quammen joins us this Friday at noon for a conversation about the ongoing global quest to understand Covid-19.
