Of course, that particular vision of paradise — free of pain and conflict — is probably nowhere to be found. But other kinds of utopias may be available, and the travel writer Pico Iyer has been considering the possibilities. In his new book, “The Half Known Life,” he adopts the role of pilgrim, journeying to the fabled places of the world — the Himalayas, Iran, Jerusalem and many more — meditating upon what paradise means, and how we can find or create it in a contentious and disarrayed world. Pico Iyer joins us this Friday at noon.
