Rueckert had always been unsure about marriage and all the expectations that can come with it. Thanks to her background as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she’d grown up with some very lofty ideals about eternal marriage. She loved her husband, though, and wanted to stay with him. But, rather than committing herself to a spousal role that she wasn’t sure she wanted, she set out to learn as much about marriage as she could. Rueckert journeyed around the world, observing and absorbing the marital ideas and practices of many different cultures. It was all an effort to find out what marriage would mean to her. Rachel Rueckert joins us this Friday at 11 a.m.
