Oliver Burkeman: How to Spend Four Thousand Weeks of Life

If each of us lives to be 80, we’ll have spent about four thousand weeks being alive on this planet — which isn’t really much time at all. So, how should we spend it?

Oliver Burkeman, author of “Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals,” used to obsess over productivity. He’d try time management strategies and life hacks, all in an effort to get on top of things. But none of it worked. Now he embraces different ideas — that we’ll never get to every email, never find ourselves without demands on our time and that committing to one thing means we will miss out on other things. Which is all okay. Life is finite and if we want to make time for the things that really matter, we’ll have to learn to let other things go. Oliver Burkeman joins us Friday at 11 a.m and 7 p.m., to talk about how to use the brief four thousand weeks of a human lifetime.
