Our guest this week, professor and author Sara Patterson, argues in her new book, “The September Six and the Struggle for the Soul of Mormonism” that the term “September Six” is misleading –— because it wasn’t just six members and it didn’t only happen during the month of September. While the problems between these academics and the LDS church felt new and sudden, Patterson argues the LDS church’s stance on intellectualism, feminism and the LGBTQ+ community started shifting years, if not decades earlier. Patterson joins us Friday at noon to look at what really happened and the lasting impacts on the Church and on those who were involved.
Sara Patterson will discuss her book at the Salt Lake City Main Library auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. and at Provo's Writ and Vision on Saturday, Oct. 7.
