During the silent film era, women directed, wrote scripts and had a lot of say over how they were portrayed on screen. Fast forward a hundred years to the #metoo movement, and that dynamic has entirely changed.

In their new documentary, “Body Parts,” filmmakers Helen Hood Scheer and Kristy Guevara-Flanagan explore this shift, drawing on just under 1,000 archived clips to tell the story of how women’s bodies are portrayed in film. In the process, they learned about nudity riders, body doubles and a “cut and paste” system — and what they mean in the history of women and film. Join us for the conversation this Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. for a conversation about women, sex and nudity in cinema.
