Brian Steed was appointed last year to coordinate the state’s efforts regarding the lake, and it was his job to oversee the development of a strategic plan to bring the lake back into balance. Among other things, it establishes a target healthy water level for the ailing lake, details a strategy for getting there and sets a timeline for doing so. BYU ecologist Ben Abbott is encouraged by Steed’s proposal. The big question, he says, is will state leaders follow through? Abbott and Steed join us as we examine the plan to save Great Salt Lake.
