Alua Arthur’s life’s work is all about death. She’s a witness and shepherd to people who have reached the end of life. And she wants you to think about death too.

When death is near, many of Arthur’s clients become contemplative, and they’ll unburden themselves to her, speaking of their joys, regrets and sometimes their secrets. Part of Arthur’s calling is to make a space where all of that can come out safely — and bring peace to the dying. And, she says, contemplating mortality isn’t just important for those about to die: doing so will breathe new potential into your life, too.
