Sundance 2018: Believer

Jan 23, 2018

Tuesday, we continue our coverage of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival with Don Argott’s documentary film about Mormon rock ‘n roll star Dan Reynolds and his efforts to find some kind of middle ground between his church and the LGBT community.

Don Argott’s film Believer is about a lot of things, but really it’s about Dan Reynolds, the lead singer for the band Imagine Dragons, trying to put on a music festival. He wanted to get Mormons and the LGBT community to start talking about the things they agree on and those they don’t. Reynolds is Mormon, but he doesn’t think that gay people who live as gay people are sinners, as the church teaches. Reynolds and Argott join us Thursday to talk about the film and standing up for what you believe.

UPDATE:

On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, Sundance Institute will present a free screening of Believer at the Red Butte Garden Ampitheatre. Director Don Argott will be on hand for a Q&A before the film. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Presented in partnership with Utah Film Center as part of their Damn These Heels LGBTQ Film Festival.
