Why is it we have such a hard time talking about race in America? KUER and RadioWest have partnered with United Way of Salt Lake for a deep look at diversity in our country today. Historian Jelani Cobb, comedian Negin Farsad, and journalist Maria Hinojosa came to Utah to talk about their experiences from the front lines of the racial divide.

Monday, we’re broadcasting the second conversation in our Realities of Diversity speaker series. Our guest is Negin Farsad. Farsad is an Iranian-American Muslim who believes she can change the world with jokes. She calls what she does social justice comedy. She uses outrageous, insightful humor to confront tough stuff like racism, bigotry and ignorance. She can give a treatise on income inequality inside a really sophisticated poop joke. It’s serious stuff, but it’s also a lot of fun.

Join us on Wednesday, October 17, for the final event in our Realities of Diversity speaker series, our partnership with United Way of Salt Lake. Maria Hinojosa, host of NPR's Latino USA, will join us to talk about the diversity of the American experience and the stories that are overlooked by mainstream media. DETAILS
