Maria Konnikova was having a bad year. So, to help pull herself out, this Harvard-trained psychologist decided to take up high stakes, competitive poker as a way to study human behavior.
After enlisting the help of Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel, Konnikova, who started the project to learn about others, ended up spending the year learning mostly about herself. In her book The Biggest Bluff, Konnikova details her journey through the world of competitive poker, her own extraordinary success as a player and the lessons she took away from the table. She learned that while life will deal all of us our share of bad cards, it’s how we play them that matters in the end. We’ll talk with Konnikova this Friday at 11 a.m. (Repeat)
