A Journey To The Edge Of Madness
The poet and journalist Melissa Bond had terrible insomnia. Her doctor prescribed Ativan, a benzodiazepine. Then her life fell apart.
Benzos, as they’re called colloquially, create a physical dependence that is nearly impossible to break. When a human tries to come off benzos the withdrawal reactions can be life-threatening. In her memoir, "Blood Orange Night", Bond takes us through her arduous journey, from prescription to dependency, through a seemingly impossible withdrawal and finally to acceptance. We'll talk with Melissa Bond this Friday at 11 a.m. about what she learned through this journey and how she was finally able to manage her dependence.
Melissa Bond is a narrative journalist and poet. Find her book "Blood Orange Night" at [Amazon|Bookshop|Indiebound] or at your local library. @MBondAuthor
