Indeed, it was to see Adams for which Paul Revere once made a famous midnight ride — not to warn him that the British were coming in general, but that the authorities were going to arrest him. In a new biography from Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Stacy Schiff, Samuel Adams is returned to the place of importance he held leading to the rebellion. Thomas Jefferson once said of him that, if the Revolution had any leader, “Samuel Adams was the man.” This Friday at 11 a.m., Stacy Schiff joins us to talk about how Adams became the moral backbone of the American Revolution.
