In 2019,  “Atlantic” writer and editor John Hendrickson wrote a piece about then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s struggle with stuttering. It forced Hendrickson to reconcile with his own stutter, too.

After his article came out, other people who stutter began reaching out to Hendrickson and share their stories with him, prompting him to begin writing about his own experiences with stuttering. In “Life on Delay,” Hendrickson allows readers deep inside his life — reflecting on his battles with depression, bullying, substance abuse and more. Along the way, he investigates the science of stuttering and controversial efforts to cure it. John Hendrickson joins us this Friday at noon.

  • John Hendrickson, author of “Life on Delay: Making Peace with a Stutter” [Amazon|Indiebound|Bookshop].
