Gabriel became fixated on wildfires in 2016, when the Sand Fire burned more than 41,000 acres around Los Angeles. So he did what anyone would do: picked up a camera and embedded with a bunch of hotshots. He wanted to understand their work, and most of all he wanted to understand fire. The footage he collected is of the sort that you’ll have to see to believe. Gabriel Mann joins us to talk about “Hotshot.”
