For the Medically Frail and Dying Homeless, There’s Only One INN Between

Ondi Timoner
/
The INN Between film

The INN Between is the only end-of-life and recuperative care facility of its kind in the U.S.  And it’s housed in a quiet neighborhood in Sugarhouse.

For the homeless population, there are many chronic issues to deal with — illness is one of them, and when it becomes terminal, there isn’t anywhere to turn. That’s why, in 2010, a nurse from the Huntsman Cancer Institute started looking for a solution — a hospice facility in Salt Lake City. In her latest documentary, the filmmaker Ondi Timoner spent a year at the INN Between meeting residents as they transition into death and sometimes healing while surrounded by community and dignity.

“The INN Between” is part of our Through the Lens film series with the Utah Film Center. You can join us for a screening followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers Ondi Timoner and Morgan Doctor, and Jillian Olmsted and Kimberly Petersen from The INN Between, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Main Salt Lake City Library. You can find more information about how to attend here.
