A Local Guide To Living — And Landscaping — In Harmony with Nature

Spring is brief in Utah, so there isn’t much time to get your garden and landscape dialed in for the year. To help, we brought sustainable landscape designer Daryl Lindsey back into the studio for some ideas on how to make our yards more beautiful and resilient before summer sets in.

Lindsey specializes in landscape design that prioritizes the health of the soil, plants and local wildlife to create resilient environments that require less water and less maintenance — in other words, yards and gardens tailored to this place. She wants to see rainwater harvesting, pollinator gardens, bee baths and natural wood mulch all supporting a diverse ecosystem of plants and trees, the more native to the Wasatch Front, the better. Of course, that means a lot less Kentucky bluegrass. Lindsey says that once a single native landscape appears in a neighborhood, others will start popping up.

In this episode we mention Daryl Lindsey's classes. You can find them here.
