How LDS Garments Shape the Lives of Those Who Wear Them

Latter-day Saint temple garments are the subject of a new book. The authors surveyed thousands of Church members for their project.

Nancy Ross, Jessica Finnigan and Larissa Kanno Kindred heard from more than 4,500 people, both women and men, who talked about their experiences wearing garments. It’s not just a religious practice; it’s also something that affects the wearer’s life on a daily basis. Garments, say the authors, shape Mormon ideas about identity, obedience and the body. They’re joining us to talk about how garments work, where they come from, and what it means to wear them. Their book is called “Mormon Garments: Sacred and Secret.”
