The Evidence in the Charlie Kirk Murder Case and the Lies Filling the Void

Tess Crowley / Deseret News, pool

Copious evidence was presented last week during the preliminary hearing of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk, and yet conspiracy theories still abound about what happened last September on the campus of Utah Valley University.

One conspiracy holds that Kirk was murdered by Mossad. Another claims that Robinson was programmed by a CIA mind-control mission. It was a hoax. It was a psy-op. Kirk is alive and well in a Montana doomsday home. The writer and historian Michael Shermer says these kinds of baseless conspiracies tend to proliferate around highly consequential events with mundane causes. He joins us to explain why. We’ll also talk to Salt Lake Tribune reporter Jessica Schreifels. She covered Robinson’s preliminary hearing and will give us a rundown of what the state revealed about its case, the first hints of the defense’s strategy and what happens next.
