If you’ve come to think that refilling Great Salt Lake to a healthy level is a nearly impossible task, Romney might actually agree with you. But he says we have to do it anyway – actually, that we’re going to do it anyway. That confidence is part of what he brings to the table. So are his connections, his wealth and a business-minded perspective that’s harder to find in conservation circles. He makes no bones about the fact that his own business as a developer depends on saving Great Salt Lake, but he also loves Utah for its own sake and wants to preserve it for future generations. He says it’ll take the combined and sustained efforts of both the public and private sectors to pull off the impossible. But he’s determined to see Utah become the first place to save a saline lake.
