The Midterms are Coming. Here's What's at Stake in Utah.

Voters are worried about the Great Salt Lake, angry about data centers, frustrated by high gas prices and fed up with Trump. But will any of that change the outcome of elections in Utah?

A major political shift may be a long shot. Outside of Democrat Ben McAdams’s likely victory in Utah’s 1st Congressional District, Republicans are favored in most races. Still, there are signs of change. Opposition to data centers has united liberal and conservative voters, forcing politicians in both parties to scramble for a position. And constitutional amendments on the ballot this year could further consolidate power in the legislature. The political mood may be shifting, too, with recent reporting pointing to growing voter concerns about political corruption.

We’ll talk with political strategist Gabi Finlayson about her organization’s effort to break the Republican supermajority in Utah by 2030. Then, a panel of journalists will help us make sense of what’s on Utahns’ minds as November approaches — and whether those concerns will translate into votes.
