Sports journalist Joe Posnanski is a diehard baseball fan, but deep down, he knows what Americans really love: football on Sundays.

Posnanski says football became the country’s most popular sport because it’s a game of constant and unrelenting emotion, of skyscraper highs and subterranean lows, where just about anything can happen at any time. In his book, “Why We Love Football,” he celebrates 100 unforgettable moments in the game’s history, from “The Miracle at the Meadowlands” to “The Minneapolis Miracle” (there are lots of miracles) to “The Immaculate Reception.” Even if you’re not a football fan, by the end of the conversation, you’ll understand why so many people can’t get enough of the sport that Posnanski says is the biggest thing in America.
